What landed in Quartermaster 1.2

The blog went quiet over the summer because 1.2 took all the time there was. It reached the App Store on 12 September. Here's what's in it.

Press play without leaving

You can now watch films and episodes from Jellyfin, Emby and Plex inside Quartermaster, and pick up where you left off. You get your choice of audio and subtitle tracks, AirPlay to the TV, and Picture in Picture so it keeps playing while you do something else.

Before this, you'd find a title in Quartermaster and then go to another app to watch it. Now you can do both without leaving.

Quartermaster on the Mac

The same app now runs on Apple silicon Macs, and it doesn't feel like a stretched iPad app. There's a sidebar, layouts that fit the window, wider library grids, and keyboard shortcuts for tabs, search, Settings and closing sheets. If you use encrypted iCloud sync, a fresh Mac can restore your setup from it.

Family and friends

Invite someone by QR code, link or file, and they can browse and request through their own Seerr account. Your owner controls stay behind your PIN. Setting up a Family profile needs Pro, and joining one is free. There's a step-by-step guide if you want to set one up.

QM Companion

Companion is a small app you run on your own server. Scan one code and it hands your whole stack to a new install, so you don't type thirty API keys into a phone. Importing works on any plan. With Pro, you can also pair your phone for a live view of your containers, and control them if you approve that separately on Companion. There's a guide to the import too.

The smaller things

• Share a magnet link to Quartermaster from another app, pick your downloader, and check the torrent before it's added.
• CrowdSec joined as the 59th service, with its own dashboard and service screens.
• The calendar switches between Month, Week and 3 days. It flags missing episodes, marks premieres and finales, and groups episodes that arrive together.
• Adding straight to Radarr or Sonarr lets you choose the server, quality profile and root folder. You can pick seasons, Specials included, and read the synopsis first.
• Release search covers names, groups, indexers and custom formats, and it uses the filters you've saved on your server.
• Bazarr subtitles can be searched from a movie or episode page and checked before they download.
• Proxmox lets you switch nodes and search and filter guests, and it's clearer about storage and backup warnings.

Pricing

1.2 added an annual plan alongside monthly and lifetime. Every plan unlocks the same Pro features: £4.99 a month, £19.99 a year, or £29.99 once. If you already bought lifetime, you keep it. If you already subscribe, you keep your price for as long as you stay subscribed.

Fixes since

Three hotfixes have gone out since 12 September, all over the air, so you didn't have to download anything. A few highlights:

• An unrelated iCloud sync no longer clears a device's saved Synology approval.
• TrueNAS stops before sending your API key to a plain HTTP address.
• The Doctor no longer offers Import on a Radarr or Sonarr download that hasn't finished, and it checks the queue again right before importing.
• Recently added music on Home combines Lidarr and DroppedNeedle, and one failed source no longer hides the other's albums.
• Cloudflare Access headers you entered manually are now included when testing and connecting.
• When a title has no synopsis in your language, Seerr falls back to the English one.

1.3 is already in closed beta. It brings a new Entertainment Home, Command Centre layouts, QM Reader for your books and audiobooks, and five new connections. It's all on the what's coming page.
